How Utah Moves

Road

According to the Utah Inland Port Authority, Utah sits within an 18-hour truck trip of key West Coast ports, giving businesses fast, reliable access to the entire Western U.S. market. That reach makes Utah a natural distribution point, not just a destination.

Rail

Utah is served by both major western Class I railroads, Union Pacific and the Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) Railway, giving shippers two direct, competitive paths west instead of depending on a single carrier. A new 43-acre BNSF intermodal facility, opened five miles from Salt Lake City International Airport in July 2025, adds fresh capacity for moving freight between California and Utah.

Air

Salt Lake City International Airport served more than 28 million passengers in 2025 and is completing a $5.1 billion expansion that brings it to 94 gates and 34 million passengers of annual capacity by October 2026. As a major Delta hub with nonstop international service and new cargo capacity for pharmaceuticals and perishables, it connects Utah businesses to global markets directly from home.

Advanced Air Mobility (AAM)

Utah is undertaking a collaborative effort to make advanced air mobility a reality. Urban airports like South Valley Regional, Skypark, and Spanish Fork are potential hub sites, while rural airports like Logan, Richfield, Nephi, Vernal, and Price are positioned as regional hubs or drone delivery centers.

Energy Infrastructure

"Delta and Millard County have long been central to Utah’s energy economy…The energy generation capacity and distribution infrastructure, combined with world-class fiber connectivity that serves this region, create a convergence that is unmatched. We are grateful to local and state leadership for recognizing that opportunity and for their confidence in what Creekstone is building.”
