Natural Resources
Northeastern Utah’s natural resource base gives energy and chemical companies a built-in supply chain advantage. Energy, petroleum, road paving, oil and gas, nuclear power, agriculture, fertilizer, and chemical industries all draw on raw materials sourced right here in the region. The region is also home to one of the world’s only sources of gilsonite, found almost nowhere else on Earth. Used in asphalt, paint, ink and more, it’s been mined here since the late 1800s.
