June 20, 2023

The Economic Development Corporation of Utah (EDCUtah) is pleased to announce the appointment of Val Hale as a community ambassador consultant. In this role, Hale will strengthen EDCUtah’s community relationships, advise on company strategy, and champion EDCUtah’s pivot to prosperity among public and private sector stakeholders.

"Val Hale is well-known and respected in economic development and business communities across Utah," said Scott Cuthbertson, president & CEO of EDCUtah. "His exemplary leadership, commitment to Utah’s communities, and expertise in the field will have a tremendous impact in helping us advance our strategic plan. I couldn’t be more excited about the partnership."

Hale served as executive director of the Utah Governor’s Office of Economic Development (now the Utah Governor’s Office of Economic Opportunity) during a period of unprecedented economic growth in Utah. He was involved in all aspects of economic development throughout the state, including corporate recruitment, incentives, international trade and diplomacy, tourism, rural economic development, outdoor recreation, and other programs. Prior to joining the Governor’s Office, he was president and CEO of the Utah Valley Chamber of Commerce, vice president of university relations at Utah Valley University, and athletic director at Brigham Young University. Hale's notable executive experience, expertise in economic development, and sterling reputation will prove valuable as EDCUtah strives to achieve our mission of creating a prosperous and resilient economy in Utah for generations to come.

"I am excited to re-engage in economic development as a consultant with EDCUtah. While I was at the Governor's Office, we worked closely with EDCUtah to recruit and retain businesses and promote economic opportunities throughout the state," said Hale. "They are fantastic partners and contributed greatly to our success. I look forward to helping EDCUtah and its investors continue to add value in both the public and private sectors in Utah."
