Remote Work Survey

May 16, 2022

Researchers from the University of Utah’s School of Computing and Utah State University Extension are conducting a study about the current situations and challenges remote workers face when managing time and work-life boundaries. The research team hopes to use these results to facilitate healthier and more productive remote work environments.

The survey below should take only 5-10 minutes to complete. It can be completed on either desktop or mobile. Your eligibility for participation in further parts of the study will be determined based on your responses to the survey below. If you are selected and agree to participate in each additional part of the study, you will be compensated up to $65: $50 for full completion of the diary activity, $15 for the follow-up interview if selected. Compensation is delivered in the form of an Amazon gift card.

This study is made up of multiple parts spanning approximately three weeks: the initial survey below, a brief additional context survey, a 14-day diary activity (daily personal observations and survey), and a concluding interview. The total time for each part is estimated to be:

  • Preliminary survey (5-10 minutes)
  • Additional context survey (5-10 minutes, selected participants only)
  • Diary Activity: (1) Note remote work challenges (~45 minutes total, spread over 2 weeks) and (2) Complete a daily survey describing these situations (~10 minutes daily)
  • Concluding interview (30-60 minutes, if needed)

Participation is completely voluntary and no personally identifiable information will be used in reported results. If you are interested, please click on this link for the preliminary survey and additional information.
