Utah Economic Developers Directory

For over 20 years, the Economic Development Corporation of Utah (EDCUtah) has been helping companies create jobs and capital investment in our state. A private nonprofit agency supported by more than 250 partners, EDCUtah provides no cost consulting services to companies who would like to learn about expanding or relocating into Utah.
- Good Company. Utah has one of the highest concentrations of advanced composites companies in the nation. More than 10,000 Utahns are employed by advanced composites companies including Hexcel, the largest U.S. based manufacturer of high-end carbon fiber.
- Complementary Clusters. Two of Utah's top cluster industries, aerospace and outdoor products, leverage advanced composites. Utah's largest employer, Hill Air Force Base, provides worldwide engineering and logistics management for the F-16 Fighting Falcon, A-10 Thunderbolt II, and Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile. Utah's outdoor industry boasts more than 1000 companies including Delta 7, Fezzari, and Goode.
- Strong Education Network. Six colleges and universities from around the state offer training and specialized programs in the composites field. Brigham Young University, Salt Lake Community College, University of Utah, The Utah Colleges of Applied Technology, Utah State University, and Westminster College graduate hundreds of qualified workers at all levels of education and experience annually.
- Dynamic Technology Environment. In 2008, the Milken Institute ranked Utah as the top state for Technology Concentration and Dynamism. Milken has also ranked Utah in the top ten for the State Technology and Science Index since 2002.
- Competitive Costs. Utah's cost of doing business is 10% below the national average.
- Stable Investment. Utah is the best managed state in the nation1. Utah boasts one of only three state governments with an AAA bond rating from all three rating agencies. Read more about our Governor's plans to keep Utah's economy going strong.
- National Reputation. After three years as a top three finalist, Utah knocked out Virginia to claim Forbes Magazine's 2010 Best States for Business. See more of Utah's Top Honors.
- Financial Incentives. The Governor's Office of Economic Development (GOED) can provide financial incentives to qualifying companies creating new, high-paying jobs in Utah. Special consideration is given to companies within Utah's Economic Clusters, including advanced composites manufacturing.
- Great People. Utah's workforce is young, highly educated, and growing. The average age in Utah is 29, the youngest in the nation and the population is growing at more than 2% annually.
- Life Elevated. We'd be remiss if we didn't mention Utah's four-season recreation, Greatest Snow on Earth, and unparalleled quality of life. See why people are saying that life in Utah is Life Elevated.
- In June 2011, Global defense contractor ITT Electronic Systems announced plans to expand its Utah facility by 2,700 jobs over the next 15 years. "We will hire over 100 this year... higher-end technicians, manufacturing engineers (and) quality control personnel," said Mike Therson, director of Composite Systems. "(Also) by the end of this year, we will announce the opening of a new facility and within two years, we plan to occupy 500,000 square feet (in the Salt Lake City area)." – Deseret News
- Hexcel plans to continue its expansion in Utah with continued capital investment in its West Valley City facility. This on-going expansion will continue to create significant, high quality job growth well into the next decade. The expanded manufacturing facility will allow Hexcel to remain the leading manufacturer of high performance carbon fiber in the U.S. and will serve as a catalyst for continued growth in the advanced composites and aerospace industries in the state.
- Delta 7 Sports, headquartered in Utah, will expand its existing facility, incorporating automated manufacturing systems for its newly developed bike frames. In 2007, Delta 7 Sports created a new bike frame using advanced composites IsoTruss technology developed by a professor at Brigham Young University
- ATK has been selected by Lockheed Martin to produce single-segment, all-composite upper wing skins for the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter (JSF), the next-generation stealth aircraft for the U.S. Air Force and Navy. Under an initial $14 million contract, ATK Composites, Clearfield, Utah, will supply parts for 22 ship sets through October 2006. Follow-on potential during the low-rate initial production phase includes an additional 674 ship sets through 2015.
